Non-standard flange, also known as irregular flange, is used as a sealing and fastening connector. It has a wide range of applications in large containers in aerospace, petroleum, chemical and other fields. For special-shaped flanges, due to their large size, it is impossible to process them as a whole solely for transportation reasons, and they must be processed in sections.

Usually, special-shaped flanges are divided into several arc segments for processing. Firstly, the blank is forged into a square billet, then cold bent into arc segments, annealed for stress relief heat treatment, assembled into a whole circle and processed on a vertical lathe to the designed shape and size. Finally, it is transported to the construction site, and several arc segments are welded together to form a complete shaped flange and welded to the pressure vessel.

Due to the different specific dimensions represented by the nominal diameter of the container cylinder and the nominal diameter of the pipe of the special-shaped flange, the dimensions of the container flange and pipe flange with the same nominal diameter are also different, and they cannot be used interchangeably.

The production and implementation standards for special-shaped flanges include national standards, American standards, Japanese standards, German standards, Italian standards, Ministry of Chemical Industry standards, Ministry of Machinery standards, and pressure vessel standards.

The pressure rating, material, and standards of special-shaped flanges have different characteristics and features. When used according to certain principles, methods, and techniques, they can be produced and processed according to corresponding standards to ensure good value and function during use.
